One of the beautiful things about CBD is that there's no one-size-fits-all way to take it. There are so many different CBD products - tinctures, topicals, edibles, capsules, and on and on - that you can work out the best way to take CBD oil just for you.

But this does raise a question: is there any problem with taking more than one CBD product at one time? How do they interact with each other?

In this article, we'll give a quick rundown of the many CBD oil uses, and provide ideas on how to take CBD oil at different times in different combinations to suit your needs.

How CBD Oil Works

On a chemical level, all CBD products work the same way - by interacting with your endocannabinoid system. But to understand how to use CBD oil in practice, you need to consider how it's delivered into your body.

The most obvious distinction is whether you deliver it inside your body or apply it to your skin. If you swallow, inhale, or absorb CBD through a mucous membrane, it enters your bloodstream and works all over your body and mind.

If you apply CBD externally through a cream, gel, or bath bomb, it absorbs through your skin and can help your overworked muscles and joints recover.

But the various internal methods of taking CBD can also have different effects. Inhaling CBD through a vape or other means makes it act quickly, but it wears off in a few hours. Absorbing pure CBD oil through a mucous membrane, usually by putting a tincture under your tongue, lets it take effect in about 30 minutes, and it lasts around six hours.

Ingesting CBD by swallowing a capsule or consuming it with food or drink, acts the slowest of all, taking an hour or two. But it can give you a nice steady, long-lasting boost to take with you through the day.

The final, but equally important, factor to consider is what other ingredients are in the CBD product. Topicals often come with moisturizers, essential oils, or pain medications. With oral products, they may contain vitamins, minerals, and sleep aids. And of course, CBD edibles include many kinds of food.

Can You Take Too Much CBD Oil?

This question is obvious if you're thinking about combining different CBD types. And the answer is that if you're taking typical commercial CBD products, this is very unlikely if you follow the instructions carefully.

No one's been known to get sick from a CBD overdose. Many scientific experiments on CBD involve giving subjects hundreds of or even thousands of milligrams a day, without apparent short-term ill effects. By contrast, even our high potency CBD oil contains about 250 mg of CBD in a half-dropper serving. The long-term effects of supplemental CBD use are still being studied.

The one thing to look out for is that CBD may interfere with the efficacy of certain medications. So if you're on a long-term drug, be sure to consult your doctor before taking CBD.

How to Take CBD Oil Combinations

As we said up top, there's no one right way to combine different CBD products - it all depends on your lifestyle. But here are some common ways people use CBD products together to enhance their well-being.

1. Morning Run: CBD Tincture + CBD Freeze

You're one of those healthy, virtuous people who get up early in the morning and jog a few miles through the streets. But lately, you've been feeling some stiffness in your Achilles tendon when you set out.

Try taking a CBD oil tincture under your tongue and applying CBD Freeze with menthol to your tendon right before you set out. Freeze provides instant cooling pain relief, while the tincture will work into your system and stay with you throughout your morning.

2. Personal Care Prep: cbdMD Botanicals

Put on your best face for the job or any work you do with a CBD skincare routine. After you wash in the morning, nourish your skin with a CBD-infused facial moisturizer from cbdMD Botanicals to keep it healthy and glowing. Heavenly Hydration works well for all skin types, while Clearskin Moisture is good for oily, blemish-prone skin. If your face feels especially dry and tight, daub on some Fab Facial Oil before applying moisturizer.

3. Lunch Break: CBD Sandwich + CBD Gummies

While many of us are stuck at home these days, this has given many of us a chance to learn some new recipes - or learn to cook in the first place.

If you're a newbie at cooking, or just want something simple, try out our CBD grilled cheese sandwich recipe. It'll provide you with protein and fat to stick to your ribs for the rest of the afternoon. And if you're lagging, a few CBD gummies for dessert can give you a quick sugar rush.

3. Evening Wind-Down: CBD Bath Bomb + CBD PM

After a long day's work, you'll be ready for some relaxation. And a great way to mellow out is a soak with a CBD bath bomb or CBD bath salts. Research shows that taking a hot bath an hour or two before bed can help you sleep by raising your level of melatonin, a hormone that regulates your sleep cycle.

After the bath, you can take more melatonin directly by taking our award-winning CBD and melatonin combo, CBD PM. Before long, you'll be off in dreamland and ready to start all over again in the morning.
