Coats certified as a 'Great Place to Work' in India
  • 28 Jun 2021

Coats, the world's leading industrial thread company, has been certified as a 'Great Place to Work' in India

The Great Place to Work® organisation uses a combination of a Trust survey and Culture Audit to assess whether the culture meets the criteria to be a certified 'great place to work'. The Trust survey measures employee feedback by asking questions on the five areas of Credibility, Respect, Fairness, Pride and Camaraderie, while the Culture Audit measures what managers do by assessing the people practices at Coats.

V Jaigopal, Managing Director, India Cluster, Coats, said: 'Being recognised as a great place to work is really important because it demonstrates our employees trust us, take pride in what they do and enjoy working here. This level of engagement helps us to connect talent, textiles and technology to make a better and more sustainable world.'

Examples of initiatives and programmes that have been implemented in Coats India to support employee engagement include:

  • Wellness initiatives such as an Employee Assistance Programme with access for employees and their family members
  • Looking after employees, their families and the local community during Covid for example through contact tracing, the distribution of health and safety kits
  • Comprehensive medical support including onsite medical officers on all sites and telephone medical consultations
  • Employee events including National Safety Week and World Environment Day
  • Recognition through quarterly and annual awards

This latest announcement follows the Coats operations in Sri Lanka, Brazil and China being certified earlier in the year. It was the fourth consecutive year that Coats Brazil achieved the recognition. Coats operations in a further 11 countries will be surveyed over the rest of 2021. Achieving 'Great Place To Work' or equivalent awards for all key sites by 2022 is one of the seven targets set by Coats in its 2019 Sustainability Strategy.
