• Grocery data collected during Singapore's Phase 2 (HA) points to a rise in healthy home dining

The pandemic has changed many aspects of everyday life, including how we shop for food and groceries. As more Singaporeans steer their carts online, especially during the recently concluded Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) (HA), ever wondered what Singaporeans are adding to their online grocery baskets? Singapore's favourite food delivery service Deliveroo reveals the most popular grocery orders from across our Little Red Dot as consumers take the opportunity to rediscover the joys of cooking at home and dining together with family amid the dine-in ban and work from home measures.

Fuel up for a busy work from home day: Nutritious ingredients are essential in everyday life

Data reveals that Singaporeans have been adding healthy produce into their online grocery carts. In fact, more than 50% of grocery orders on the platform included vegetables, fruits and dairy products. Singaporeans went bananas over bananas, and the fruit made its way to the top of the list as the most ordered item, with about 9,000 delivered - that's enough to whip up over 27,000 plates of banana pratas! On the other hand, broccoli was the most popular vegetable, with 4,000 delivered. Eggs, simple and versatile, were also a regular purchase with 7,000 trays ordered during Phase 2 (HA).

Quick, easy (and microwavable) meals are Singaporeans' top lunch option

While working from home implies closer proximity to the kitchen, Singaporeans don't always have the time to cook an elaborate meal. Quick lunches are the way to go when looking for a midday recharge. In Phase 2 (HA) alone, there were enough orders of ready-to-eat barbecue chickens to feed a team of soccer players three meals a day for about five months!

Most popular time to grocery shop and popping bottles for #stayhome celebrations

Customers tend to shop for their groceries during their downtime, either at lunchtime or after work. The most popular time to order groceries was 7pm. The Covid-19 restrictions didn't put a damper on celebrations. Families and friends tried to make the best of the situation by spending special occasions at home, as evident by the largest grocery order during Phase 2 (HA): A whopping S$895.50 order from a wine merchant.

Coinciding with the start of Phase 3 (HA), Deliveroo is making it easier and more affordable for consumers to order groceries online with ongoing exciting promotions:
