Eaton is pleased to announce that its seminar entitled Understanding circuit protection selectivity and back up protection has been approved by the CPD Certification Service as meeting the standards required for CPD training courses. Aimed at contractors, consultants and electrical engineers, Eaton's seminar was assessed by representatives from an independent panel of educationalists and technical experts and successfully met the assessors' requirements for a balanced approach covering the technical aspects of the topic as well as ensuring the educational content is appropriate.

Presented by David Pitt, Product Marketing Manager Power Distribution Components for Eaton, the one hour seminar covers a range of key issues around circuit protection selectivity and back up protection such as the IEC/BSEN Standards applicable to fuses and circuit breakers; an explanation of overload vs. short circuit discrimination and Category A vs. Category B MCCBs for time graded discrimination.

By the end of the seminar, delegates will have a better understanding of the requirements of the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations in respect of discrimination (selectivity) and back-up protection, know how to use manufacturers' information in the preparation of a discrimination study, and also understand the reasons why discrimination may or may not be a requirement. On completion of the seminar a CPD certificate is issued to all attendees to demonstrate participation and level of understanding.

Other CPD certified seminars available from Eaton include Building Regulations Part L2 Overview and the Impact on Electrical Power Measurement, Power Factor Correction and Arc Flash in Low Voltage Switchboards.
