Eli Lilly & Co. has named Patrik Jonsson to the new role of president of Lilly USA and chief customer officer, as the company prepares for the launch of new medicines in the next several years.

Mr. Jonsson, currently president of Lilly Bio-Medicines, will be succeeded by Ilya Yuffa, currently vice president of U.S. Diabetes, the company said Wednesday.

"Lilly has a tremendous opportunity to serve many more patients in the U.S.," said David Ricks, Lilly chairman and chief executive. "Now is the time to name a dedicated executive to lead Lilly USA and our global customer-focused functions during this time of exciting growth."

Mr. Jonsson joined Lilly in 1990 as a sales representative in Sweden and held a number of positions internationally, including general manager of Sweden, Scandinavia, Italy and Japan, the company said. He was promoted to senior vice president and president of Lilly Bio-Medicines in 2019.
