• Professors specialised in Social Sciences will be able to present their applications for the Chair from January 12 to February 11, 2021.

This call, which is re-published, enables the filling of a position in the Prince of Asturias Chair at the American University of Georgetown for the next academic year 2021-22.

This call is part of the agreement between Georgetown University, the Ministry of Universities, the Endesa Foundation and the Embassy of Spain in the United States, and will enable the hiring of a specialist professor of recognised prestige and teaching experience in Spanish universities belonging to the fields of Political Science, History, Economics, Sociology, Humanities and related areas. The objective of the Chair is to promote a better and full knowledge in the United States of the current situation in Spain.

Candidates interested in filling the position must present their CV, a letter of motivation and an action plan with the academic, teaching, research and outreach activities that they propose to carry out in the chair. The application must be submitted in both Spanish and English by means of a form enabled in this regard on the website of the Ministry of Universities.

The three candidates most highly rated by the selection committee, which is made up of 8 members chosen by the three entities that signed the agreement, will go on to the final phase of the process, in which they will be interviewed by Georgetown University.

The successful candidate will fill the position for a minimum period of one year and it may be extended up to a maximum of 2 times, with which its maximum possible duration will be 3 years.

The person occupying the Chair will receive a salary of $107,000 per year. The cost thereof, however, amounts to a total of $150,447 per year, when adding the complementary benefits of the position and the expenses related to the operations, programming and research of the Chair. This financing will be assumed by the Endesa Foundation, which will contribute $106,447, and Georgetown University, which will contribute $44,000.

The deadline for receiving applications will be from January 12 to February 11 this year. Applications must be submitted online through the Electronic Office of the Ministry of Universities.
