GAZPROM NEFT Gazprom Neft has commissioned an oil-transportation system for feeding oil from Gazprom's Chayandinskoye field in Yakutia into the East Siberia-Pacific Ocean (ESPO) pipeline: completion of field infrastructure will allow the company to deliver up to 1.5 million tonnes of oil per year through the ESPO.
An oil pipeline is now connecting the Chayandinskoye field's oil treatment plant with the Gazprom pipeline network,* through which oil is fed into the ESPO. Commissioning this 70 km pipeline has improved speed and efficiency in transporting hydrocarbons, which where previously transported by road.**
This project has been undertaken in full compliance with all environmental and industrial safety standards.*** Given the difficult local terrain and extreme natural and climatic conditions, the pipeline has been built underground, with heat-insulating materials being used in construction to avoid any impact on permafrost soils. Russian-made pipes were used on this project.
Gazpromneft-Zapolyarye is continuing its development of oil and gas infrastructure at the Chayandinskoye field,**** with construction of a modular oil-treatment plant, compressor station and other production facilities nearing completion. Peak production at the Chayandinskoye-field oil-rim deposit is expected to reach around three million tonnes of oil equivalent (mtoe) per year.
* The Chayandinskoye oil and gas condensate field is located in the Lensky District of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The license to the field is owned by Gazprom PJSC. The field is unique in terms of its reserves, with recoverable reserves standing at 1.2 billion cubic meters of gas, and 61.6 million tonnes of oil.
** Prior to the commissioning of the pressure pipeline crude was delivered by oil tankers to the Gazprom Dobycha Noyabrsk integrated gas treatment facility, for mixing with stable gas condensate and despatch via a 70 km oil pipeline to a crude oil delivery and acceptance point (CODAP) and onwards to the ESPO.
*** The pressure pipeline is fitted with cleaning and diagnostics enclosures, located at the start and the end of the route. Four isolation-valve assemblies with remotely operated electric gate valves are located along the line pipe. A further node point is located directly at the branch point to the Chayanda-ESPO oil pipeline. The pipeline has successfully passed all strength and tightness testing, and has been approved by regulators.
Technical and biological land reclamation (with subsequent grass seeding) is being undertaken along the pipeline route. In spite of the severe Yakutia climate (where winter temperatures can sometimes drop to -60o), the facility has been completed in just one construction season.
**** Gazpromneft-Zapolyarye (a Gazprom Neft subsidiary) is developing the Chayandinskoye oil and gas condensate field oil-rim deposit under a long-term risk-operatorship agreement with Gazprom Dobycha Noyabrsk LLC (a subsidiary of Gazprom), which is responsible for developing gas at the field.
Commercial production at the Chayandinskoye oil and gas condensate field commenced in November 2019. Gazpromneft-Zapolyarye's well stock currently comprises 17 units: a further 37 high-tech fishbone wells are expected to be drilled in the future. Fishbone wells are multilateral structures with a special trajectory, involving multiple branches from a single horizontal borehole, increasing coverage of oil-saturated sections of strata.
