(Alliance News) - Genus PLC announced on Monday the appointment of Jorgen Kokke as chief executive officer designate effective May 2.

The Basingstoke, England-based animal genetics company said Kokke will replace Stephen Wilson as CEO, who announced his retirement back in February. Wilson will officially leave on September 30.

Genus said Kokke will become CEO of Genus from July 1, but Wilson will remain actively involved in the company as an executive director to support a "smooth transition", and will be around to deliver the company's full year results in September.

Kokke has experience in the food and agriculture sectors, after having spent the last 14 years at New York-listed ingredient provider Ingredion Inc as executive vice president.

Shares were down 0.3% at 2,866.00 pence in London on Monday morning.
