Honda Motor reported a rise in third-quarter net profit thanks partly to stronger earnings from its car businesses.
The Japanese automaker said Thursday that net profit increased 3.5% from a year earlier to 253.31 billion yen ($1.71 billion) for the three months ended Dec. 31. That missed the estimate of Y264.64 billion in a poll of analysts by data provider Quick.
Earlier this week, rival Toyota Motor raised its fiscal-year net-profit forecast as North America and Europe led sales growth in its third quarter.
