CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) _ HubSpot Inc. (HUBS) on Thursday reported a loss of $56.4 million in its second quarter.

The Cambridge, Massachusetts-based company said it had a loss of $1.18 per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 44 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 12 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 43 cents per share.

The cloud-based marketing and sales software platform posted revenue of $421.8 million in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Nine analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $409.7 million.

For the current quarter ending in October, HubSpot expects its per-share earnings to range from 50 cents to 52 cents.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $425 million to $426 million for the fiscal third quarter.

HubSpot expects full-year earnings in the range of $2.28 to $2.30 per share, with revenue ranging from $1.69 billion to $1.7 billion.
