On December 3, 2019, Inmarsat PLC announced that the contesting shareholders no longer intend to raise objections to the company's proposed takeover by private investors being sanction at a court hearing. The Company also stated that it has received confirmation from a law firm representing certain contesting shareholders.

Inmarsat is the world's No. 1 of mobile communication services (telephone, video, Internet, etc.) via satellite, intended primarily for the maritime, aeronautical, defense, media, and energy sectors. The group also offers space aboard its satellites. Sales break down by activity as follows: - voice and data transmission (91.1%): maritime transmissions (41.4% of net sales), land transmissions (28.5%), aeronautical transmissions (19.2%) and other (10.9%); - broadband services (8.9%). At the end of 2018, the group owned 13 geostationary satellites. Net sales break down geographically as follows: the United Kingdom (4.9%), Europe (30.3%), North America (40.5%), Asia/Pacific (17.6%) and other (6.7%).
