Marubeni Corporation

Investment participation in Saide, Turkey

Marubeni Corporation ("Marubeni") has agreed to acquire 45.5% of the shares of Saide Tekstil Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Şirketi ("Saide"), a company which conducts planning, manufacturing, sales of apparel, and other activities in the Republic of Turkey.

Saide has a planning base in London, the center of fast fashion. In recent years Saide has been rapidly expanding sales in the European apparel market by providing customers with a short lead time production function in Turkey, which has a cluster of textile manufacturers and is situated next to Europe, and a design and planning function which reflects the latest global trends.

Marubeni has established a production system that enables timely, stable and mass supply of high-quality clothing, footwear, home textiles, and other products at competitive prices for the Japanese and other Asian markets.

As a result of this investment participation, Marubeni will optimally combine the planning, production and sales channels of Marubeni and Saide to create synergies such as constructing a short lead time for existing Asian customers, and aim to expand sales in worldwide lifestyle-related markets such as apparel and other areas where growth is expected from population increases and economic development.
