Microsoft announced on Monday that it plans to open a new 'hub' in the heart of London, dedicated entirely to artificial intelligence (AI).

This laboratory, dubbed 'Microsoft AI London', will be dedicated to exploratory work on the development of new large-scale language models and their associated infrastructures.

Its aim will also be to develop leading tools for foundation models, for example by collaborating with the American software group's existing partners, foremost among which is OpenAI.

This new hub will be led by Jordan Hoffmann, a British scientist and engineer who has devoted his career to AI and is behind the start-ups Inflection and DeepMind.

Microsoft emphasizes that it intends to recruit teams in the coming weeks in order to swell the workforce at these offices, which will be located in the Paddington station area.
