WALTHAM, MA - After a 32-year career that has seen her rise from a staff accountant to a senior executive for one of the state's largest employers, Marcy Reed, National Grid's Massachusetts President and Executive Vice President of Energy Policy & Social Impact, has announced her retirement.

'National Grid has become family to me, but it's time to take a breath and focus more on my family at home,' said Reed, whose last day will be April 1, 2021. 'I am only able to make this decision, however, knowing that I'm leaving a strong foundation and that the company is well-positioned to help drive Massachusetts toward the imperative of reaching our clean energy goals.'

Through her leadership role at National Grid and strong advocacy on the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, The Partnership, the Massachusetts Business Roundtable, the United Way of Central Massachusetts, the Governor's STEM Council, and Blue Cross Blue Shield's and Northeastern University's boards of directors, Reed is passionate about helping make the Commonwealth a better place to work and live. She has driven National Grid to be a leader in connecting clean energy to the electric grid, enabling the growth of both solar and electric vehicle charging stations. By supporting the many ambitious energy efficiency programs across the Commonwealth, Reed has helped achieve meaningful savings for customers while also reducing emissions. Through her representation on the STEM Council, she helps take the lead on STEM internships, a passion she also supports with her relentless encouragement of and investment in women pursuing STEM-based professions. And, as chair of The Partnership, she has been leading the way with others to increase diversity and address systemic racism in organizations across the region.

Her numerous recognitions and honors include being named a 'Distinguished Bostonian' by the Boston Chamber, listed twice among the Top 100 Most Influential Bostonians, and listed among the Boston Business Journal's 'Power 50.'

A search for her replacement is underway.

'It's important to me that the team is able to plan for my departure, finding the right leader for the Massachusetts business,' Reed said. 'I will be supporting this effort and my successor, ensuring I do everything I can to make this transition as smooth as possible.'
