Polskie Sieci Energetyczne (PSE) has signed an approx. PLN 171.1 million (EUR 39.5 million) agreement with SPIE Elbud Gdansk for a development of the Dunowo substation. The work is expected to be completed in 2027.

Currently, 400 kV lines from Slupsk and Morzyczyn substations near Szczecin are connected to the Dunowo substation. The facility in Dunowo will be adapted to connect to the new 400 kV lines from the Zydowo Kierzkowo and Pila Krzewina substations. PSE added in the release that, in addition, some of the worn-out equipment will be replaced, and a stand for a new autotransformer, used to change the voltage of the electricity, will also be created.

The expansion and modernisation of the Dunowo substation is part of a programme aimed at improving the reliability of electricity supply in the northern part of Poland, as well as the derivation of power from renewable energy sources, including offshore wind farms. The investment is co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). The work is to start this year and to be completed in 2027.
