BERLIN (dpa-AFX) - Green Party parliamentary group leader Katharina Droge is pushing for the planned legislative package to support the solar industry to be passed as soon as possible. It is her "clear expectation" and wish for the coalition partners that the so-called solar package will be passed in the next session week of the Bundestag, Droge said on Tuesday in Berlin. After the current session week, the Bundestag will next meet in the second week of April.

"I can't understand why it takes so long to negotiate bureaucracy reduction in parliament," said Droge. In her view, the package could have already been passed this week. "The expansion of renewables is important for meeting climate targets."

The solar package is intended to remove bureaucratic hurdles to the expansion of solar energy in Germany and thus drive the expansion forward. The operation of balcony power plants and the use of self-generated photovoltaic electricity in apartment buildings should become easier. The opportunities for solar installations on fields and farmland should also be expanded.

It is also a question of good economic policy not to leave solar companies in the east in particular hanging, said Droge. Several solar companies are considering stopping their production in Germany in view of the current plight. The reason given is that Chinese manufacturers are flooding the market with modules at dumping prices.

"The proposals on the table are good. A solution is possible. What is needed now is the political will of everyone to conclude this law," Droge emphasized. She also campaigned for the "resilience bonus" discussed as part of the package, which is intended to provide financial support for domestic production. "Particularly with regard to the issue of a resilience bonus, we as the Greens continue to campaign for a solution to be found here, because we believe it is necessary for solar production to take place in Germany and Europe."/hrz/DP/men
