Solidarity Saudi Takaful Company announced earnings results for the quarter and full year ended December 31, 2017. For the quarter, the company reported net loss before Zakat was SAR 2,909,000 against profit of SAR 16,532,000 a year ago. Net written premiums were SAR 30,631,000 against SAR 60,315,000 a year ago. Net loss of shareholders capital investment was SAR 2,352,000 against profit of SAR 1,750,000 a year ago. The reasons for the deficit during the current quarter as compared to the income in the same quarter of the previous year are due to the decrease in gross written premium and realized loss on shareholders investment. For the year, the company reported net profit before Zakat was SAR 40,235,000 against SAR 43,561,000 a year ago. Net written premiums were SAR 109,507,000 against SAR 228,892,000 a year ago. Net profit of shareholders capital investment was SAR 2,875,000 against loss of SAR 1,786,000 a year ago. Earnings per share were SAR 1.61 against SAR 1.74 a year ago.
