Solidarity Saudi Takaful Company reported earnings results for the fourth quarter and full year ended December 31, 2016. For the quarter, the company reported net profit before zakat of SAR 16,532,000 compared to SAR 8,576,000 a year ago. Net written premiums were SAR 60,315,000 compared to SAR 43,104,000 a year ago. Net profit of shareholders capital investment was SAR 1,750,000 compared to net loss of shareholders capital investment SAR 3,586,000 a year ago. The reasons for the increase in net profit during the current quarter as compared to the same quarter of the previous year are due to the increase in net written premium and increase in shareholders investment income. For the year, the company reported net profit before zakat of SAR 43,561,000 compared to net loss before zakat of SAR 51,508,000 a year ago. Net written premiums were SAR 228,892,000 compared to SAR 209,896,000 a year ago. Net loss of shareholders capital investment was SAR 1,786,000 compared to net profit of shareholders capital investment SAR 3,652,000 a year ago. Earnings per share were SAR 0.78 compared to loss per share of SAR 0.93 a year ago. The reasons for the net profit during the current period as compared to the same period in the previous year are due to the increase in Net Written Premium and decrease in net incurred claims.
