May 21 (Reuters) - Upper Crust owner SSP Group reported higher half-year revenue on Tuesday as sales grew at its airport and train station food outlets aided by robust travel demand.

Sales at restaurants and stores in transit locations have improved, with the company posting like-for-like sales growth of 12% during the half-year, as business and leisure travel has grown over the last year.

Along with that, higher average spend per customer and contract gains benefitted SSP, which also owns the Ritazza coffee shop chain.

The airport food chain operator reported revenue of 1.5 billion pounds ($1.91 billion) for the six months ended March 31, compared with 1.3 billion pounds a year ago.

"Trading momentum has continued into the second half, and we are confident in delivering on our expectations for the full year," CEO Patrick Coveney said.
