Stryker Corporation Reports Earnings Results for the Second Quarter Ended June 30, 2021

Stryker Corporation announced earnings results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2021. For the second quarter, the company announced sales was USD 4,294 million compared to USD 2,764 million a year ago. Operating income was USD 732 million compared to operating loss of USD 20 million a year ago. Net income was USD 592 million compared to net loss of USD 83 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 1.57 compared to basic loss per share from continuing operations of USD 0.22 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 1.55 compared to diluted loss per share from continuing operations of USD 0.22 a year ago. For the half year, sales was USD 8,247 million compared to USD 6,352 million a year ago. Operating income was USD 1,191 million compared to USD 615 million a year ago. Net income was USD 894 million compared to USD 410 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 2.37 compared to USD 1.09 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 2.34 compared to USD 1.08 a year ago.
Stryker Corporation is one of the world's leaders in designing, manufacturing, and selling orthopedic equipments. Net sales break down by family of products as follows:
- surgical equipments and neurotechnology products (57.5%): electric motorized surgical instruments, surgical navigation systems, endoscopy equipment, digital imaging systems, neurosurgery equipments, neurovascular devices, etc. The group also offers hospital beds, gurneys, stretchers, and emergency room equipment;
- orthopedic implants (42.5%): joint prostheses, traumatology implants, micro-implants, orthopedic cement, orthobiology products, etc. The group also provides spinal implants.
At the end of 2022, the group had 48 production sites worldwide.
Net sales are distributed geographically as follows: the United States (73.9%), Europe/Middle East/Africa (12.7%), Asia/Pacific (10.2%) and other (3.2%).
