STUTTGART (dpa-AFX) - Baden-Württemberg wants to vote in favour of invoking the mediation committee in the debate on cannabis legalization in the Bundesrat. This was announced by Rudi Hoogvliet, the representative of the state of Baden-Württemberg to the federal government, to the German Press Agency on Friday morning. He criticized that the basic objective of decriminalization was shared, but that the law was flawed. The Greens in the state government feared that the amnesty regulation would overburden the judiciary, while the CDU demanded even more far-reaching changes to the law. The amnesty regulation stipulates that prison sentences and fines already imposed for cannabis offenses, which will no longer be punishable in the future, will be waived when the law comes into force./poi/DP/mis
