WIESBADEN/BERLIN (dpa-AFX) - Hesse intends to abstain in the debate on cannabis legalization in the Bundesrat on Friday (today) in the vote on whether to refer the matter to the mediation committee. The German Press Agency learned this from government circles on Friday morning. In CDU-led ministries in Wiesbaden, such as the interior and justice departments, concerns had been raised about the law. In the Hessian SPD, there were both approving and disapproving voices, but out of loyalty to SPD Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach, the green light was ultimately given overall. The black-red state government should therefore abstain in the Bundesrat. The law on cannabis legalization is controversial throughout Germany /jaa/DP/mis
