TotalEnergies announces that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (SINOPEC) to jointly develop a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production unit at a SINOPEC refinery in China.

The planned unit, co-owned by the two groups, will have the capacity to produce 230.000 tons of SAF per year and will process local waste or residues from the circular economy (used cooking oils and animal fats).

SINOPEC will provide its own SAF production technology, called SRJET, while TotalEnergies will contribute its experience and expertise in technical and operational areas, as well as in distribution.
