The Canadian dollar strengthened against the greenback on Monday, and the yield on benchmark government debt climbed. 

The loonie was trading 0.5% higher at C$1.3603 to the greenback, or 73.51 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of 1.3598 to 1.3682.

Canadian government 10-year bond yields rose 3 basis points to 3.493%. The yield on similar U.S. government benchmark debt rose to 4.3236%.

U.S. June crude futures rose $1.94 to $96.34 a barrel on Monday.
