The Canadian dollar weakened against the greenback on Thursday, and the yield on benchmark government debt climbed. 

The loonie was trading 0.3% lower at C$1.3918 to the greenback, or 71.85 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of 1.387 to 1.3933.

Canadian government 10-year bond yields rose 3.3 basis points to 3.536%. The yield on similar U.S. government benchmark debt rose to 4.3584%.

U.S. May crude futures rose $12.88 to $113 a barrel on Thursday.
