Consumer companies rose as concerns about a prolonged energy shock eased.

The U.S. Global JETS exchange-traded fund rose 1%, but the basket of major airlines remained down by 5% over the last five sessions.

Shares of Procter & Gamble rose after the maker of Dawn dish soap, Gillette razors and a host of other household products reported better-than-expected quarterly results.
