(Alliance News) - Leonardo Spa announced on Thursday that the Peruvian Air Force has ordered an additional C-27J Spartan multi-role transport aircraft. The acquisition is part of a program to bolster its air mobility capabilities, given the country's complex geography, challenging terrain, and the requirement to reach remote areas.

The contract brings the total number of C-27Js acquired by Peru to five, with delivery to the FAP's Grupo 8 scheduled for 2027. The program includes several offset benefits, such as the localization of support capabilities, generating significant returns on investment.

This latest order also represents a major milestone for the program, bringing the total number of aircraft ordered by 21 operators worldwide to 100. The C-27J is currently in service in 18 countries.

Leonardo shares were trading down 0.2% at EUR49.73 on Thursday.
