Danish pharmaceutical giant Novo Nordisk has announced that its Phase 3a PIONEER TEENS trial demonstrated that oral semaglutide reduced HbA1c by 0.83 percentage points more than placebo after 26 weeks in children and adolescents with type 2 diabetes.

The company plans to file for expanded indications in the US and EU during the second half of 2026 for its Rybelsus and Ozempic tablet formulations.

These results address a significant unmet medical need, as treatment options for young people living with type 2 diabetes remain limited.
