April 15 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index opened lower on Wednesday, as losses in mining stocks weighed on the commodities-heavy market despite optimism around the possible resumption of peace talks in the Middle East.

At 09:30 a.m. ET, the Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX Composite Index was down 0.1% at 34,084.56 points.
