(Alliance News) - UniCredit Spa announced on Monday that it will outline today the details of an approach aimed at creating value for Commerzbank AG.
"UniCredit sees significant potential for growth and risk reduction for Commerzbank, additional to the current 'Momentum' strategy, capable of generating further value," the Italian bank stated.
"Our assessments are based on publicly available information and derive from the application of the proven expertise of UniCredit Unlocked, which has delivered excellent results and a highly compelling long-term sustainable model, both at the group level and in Germany, achieved with low execution risk."
As a major shareholder, UniCredit believes that Commerzbank "is not adequately prepared to face future challenges and is excessively focused on achieving short-term results."
Furthermore, UniCredit believes that Commerzbank "must reposition itself to be future-ready, accelerating revenue growth and placing greater emphasis on investment and the transformation process."
The Italian bank's CEO, Andrea Orcel, will hold a conference call at 0900 CEST to present the plan for Commerzbank.
