MARCONI AIRPORT, 535 THOUSAND PASSENGERS IN FEBRUARY

Very positive figures on 2022 (+35.9%), but slowing down compared to 2019 (-9.1%)

Another month of partial recovery for Marconi. After a strong growth in Summer 2022 compared to pre-pandemic levels and an autumn-winter of data consolidation, in February 2023 Bologna Airport recorded 535,395 passengers, which show a significant increase on the same month in 2022 (+35.9%), but which also represent a decrease of 9.1% compared to February 2019.

In detail, there were 127,477 passengers on domestic flights (-0.7% on 2022 and -7.7% on 2019), while passengers on international flights, at 407,918, showed strong growth on 2022 (+53 .6%) and down (-9.5%) on 2019.

There were 4,238 aircraft movements in the month, up on 2022 (+20.8%), but still lower than in 2019 (-15.4%). The volumes of freight were more stable, equal to 3,335 tonnes, down by 2.0% on 2022 and up by 4.5% on 2019.

The favorite destinations in February 2023 were: Catania, Barcelona, Madrid, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Tirana, Palermo, London Heathrow, Bucharest, Istanbul and Frankfurt.

In the first two months of 2023, Bologna Airport recorded 1,125,484 passengers (up by 58.4% on 2022 and down by 8.5% on 2019), with a total of 8,882 movements (+26.2% compared to 2022 and -14.4% compared to 2019), while the freight were 6,656 tons (+0.4% compared to 2022 and +2.4% compared to 2019).

Aeroporto Guglielmo Marconi di Bologna, classified as a "strategic airport" in the centre-north area of the National Airports Plan prepared by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, recorded in 2022 8.5 million passengers, ranking as the seventh biggest Italian airport by number of passengers (Source: Assaeroporti - Aeroporti2030).
