Aptiv PLC Reports Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and Six Months Ended June 30, 2022

Aptiv PLC reported earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2022. For the second quarter, the company reported sales was USD 4,057 million compared to USD 3,807 million a year ago. Net loss was USD 45 million compared to net income of USD 163 million a year ago. Basic loss per share from continuing operations was USD 0.23 compared to basic earnings per share from continuing operations of USD 0.54 a year ago. Diluted loss per share from continuing operations was USD 0.23 compared to diluted earnings per share from continuing operations of USD 0.54 a year ago.
For the six months, sales was USD 8,235 million compared to USD 7,830 million a year ago. Net income was USD 44 million compared to USD 458 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 0.04 compared to USD 1.58 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 0.04 compared to USD 1.57 a year ago.
Aptiv PLC specializes in the design, manufacturing and marketing of automotive equipment. Net sales break down by family of products as follows:
- electrical and electronic architecture products (73.8%): connectors, wiring assemblies, harnesses, electrical centers, hybrid high voltage and safety distribution systems;
- electronic and safety systems (26.2%): body controls, reception systems, infotainment and connectivity systems, hybrid vehicle power electronics, passive and active safety electronics, displays and mechatronics.
At the end of 2022, the group has 131 manufacturing plants and 11 technical centers worldwide.
Net sales are distributed geographically as follows: the United States (36%), North America (0.9%), Europe/Middle East/Africa (30.7%), Asia/Pacific (30.2%) and South America (2.2%).
