Aptiv plc Reports Earnings Results for the Second Quarter Ended June 30, 2021

Aptiv PLC announced earnings results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2021. For the second quarter, the company announced sales was USD 3,807 million compared to USD 1,960 million a year ago. Operating income was USD 285 million compared to operating loss of USD 311 million a year ago. Net income was USD 163 million compared to net loss of USD 366 million a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 0.54 compared to diluted loss per share from continuing operations of USD 1.43 a year ago. For the half year, sales was USD 7,830 million compared to USD 5,186 million a year ago. Operating income was USD 714 million compared to USD 1,308 million a year ago. Net income was USD 458 million compared to USD 1,206 million a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 1.57 compared to USD 4.66 a year ago.
Aptiv PLC specializes in the design, manufacturing and marketing of automotive equipment. Net sales break down by family of products as follows:
- electrical and electronic architecture products (73.8%): connectors, wiring assemblies, harnesses, electrical centers, hybrid high voltage and safety distribution systems;
- electronic and safety systems (26.2%): body controls, reception systems, infotainment and connectivity systems, hybrid vehicle power electronics, passive and active safety electronics, displays and mechatronics.
At the end of 2022, the group has 131 manufacturing plants and 11 technical centers worldwide.
Net sales are distributed geographically as follows: the United States (36%), North America (0.9%), Europe/Middle East/Africa (30.7%), Asia/Pacific (30.2%) and South America (2.2%).
