Assa Abloy AB Publ Reports Earnings Results for the Second Quarter Ended June 30, 2019

ASSA ABLOY AB publ announced earnings results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2019. For the second quarter, the company announced sales was SEK 23,544 million compared to SEK 21,140 million a year ago. Operating income was SEK 3,733 million compared to operating loss of SEK 2,685 million a year ago. Net income was SEK 2,561 million compared to net loss of SEK 3,222 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share was SEK 2.31 compared to basic loss per share of SEK 2.9 a year ago. For the half year, sales was SEK 45,048 million compared to SEK 39,690 million a year ago. Operating income was SEK 6,978 million compared to SEK 144 million a year ago. Net income was SEK 4,780 million compared to net loss of SEK 1,257 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share was SEK 4.3 compared to basic loss per share of SEK 1.13 a year ago.
Assa Abloy AB is the world's leading manufacturer of locking systems. Net sales break down by family of products as follows:
- security doors and systems (47.1%): shielded and automatic doors, magnetic card locking systems (for use by hotels) and security systems for parking meters, slot machines), etc.;
- electronic and electromechanical locking systems (30%): access codes, electronic locks, etc.;
- mechanical locking systems (22.9%): locks, padlocks, bolts, etc.
Net sales are distributed geographically as follows: Europe (32.4%), North America (51.7%), Asia (7.4%), Oceania (4%), Americas (3.3%) and Africa (1.2%).
