BMMI has successfully achieved recertification for its Integrated Management System (IMS), becoming one of the first organisations in the region to pass audits for the newly revised global standards for quality and environment management systems.

BMMI first implemented and gained certification for its IMS in 2012, becoming the first in its industry in Bahrain to do so. The Group's IMS consists of certification in Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSAS 18001:2007), Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015), Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015) and Food Safety Management Systems (ISO 22000:2005).

The re-certification audit was conducted by Bureau Veritas, and covered a number of BMMI's divisions and locations, including its Sitra Headquarters, BMMI Shops and Nader Trading. 'Although companies have three years to comply with the new revisions implemented towards the end of 2015, we were able to accelerate the process to meet the requirements of the certification in a short period of time,' said Suttish Boodoo, Vice President of IMS, Administration and Security. 'This certification shows the effectiveness of our IMS and we are pleased to tell our stakeholders, shareholders, principals and customers that BMMI continues to lead the industry in compliance and strives to achieve and deliver the highest quality products and services, and to protect the wellbeing of its customers, employees and its communities,' he added.

Various initiatives, events and workshops take place annually across BMMI to help raise employee awareness and commitments to IMS standards, including trainings, conferences, internal communications, quality month and health and safety week. 'We take our IMS very seriously at BMMI and we are always looking for ways to raise awareness about its standards and its benefits,' said Mr Boodoo. 'I am very proud to say that the external auditors have expressed their satisfaction with the knowledge of IMS across the workforce, as well as management commitment and employee involvement.'

BMMI's commitment to international standards truly sets it apart and has delivered immense value to the Group over the years, said Ammar Aqeel Alhassan, BMMI Executive Vice President & CFO. 'BMMI is once again demonstrating a commitment to high standards of operations across the Group,' he said. 'Having been certified for over four years in our IMS, and even longer for some of the individual standards, our focus is shifting from mere compliance to continuous improvement of standards and performance,' added Mr Alhassan.
