BrandShield Systems plc announced its role in establishing a code of practice in the fight against the sale of counterfeit and pirated goods online. In collaboration with renowned organizations such as Procter & Gamble, Unilever, Castrol, The Pharmaceutical Security Institute, the American, European and British Chambers of Commerce of the Philippines, and with eCommerce platforms such as Lazada and Shopee, BrandShield has joined an agreement with the Philippine Intellectual Property Authority to protect consumers from buying inferior and possibly dangerous products online. Over the last decade, half of the countries in Southeast Asia are listed among the top 25 economies for the provenance of counterfeit and pirated goods, according to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

Counterfeit and pirated goods pose a significant threat to the global economy, undermining the integrity of brands and infringing upon intellectual property rights. This growing issue necessitates collaboration between industry leaders, organizations and government authorities, which is why BrandShield is joining forces with global organizations to improve internet safety.
