Bristol Myers Squibb said it named incoming Chief Executive Christopher Boerner as its next chairman of the board.

The biopharmaceutical company on Tuesday said the appointment of Boerner as its chairman would be effective on April 1, 2024.

Boerner would succeed Giovanni Caforio in the role, who would also be retiring on April 1, 2024, as both CEO and chairman.

Caforio has held the company's CEO and chairman positions since May 2015 and May 2017, respectively.
