The Ruhr metropolises of Essen and Dortmund will remain very important locations for the E.ON Group after the takeover of innogy by E.ON. This was confirmed by the energy company today.

Essen remains the energy capital of Germany and will continue to be the central location of the new E.ON in Germany. Essen will remain the headquarters of the group and of all national and international network control functions. In addition, the newly founded holding company of Germany's largest distribution network operator, 'Westenergie', will be located here. From Essen, E.ON will also manage innovation topics. These include, for example, innovative projects on the site of the Zollverein UNESCO World Heritage Site. Essen will also be the core location for business customer sales in Germany.

Dortmund will remain one of the largest locations of the new E.ON in Germany. Together with 'Westnetz', the Westphalian city will continue to be home to E.ON's by far largest distribution network operator in Germany and is already an important location for the important future business of electromobility. In Dortmund, E.ON's City Energy Solutions sales business will also be strengthened - neighborhood or heating solutions are a key element in the sustainable transformation of the energy system.

Munich, the Bavarian capital, will continue to be an important sales location for E.ON in the future, where important functions of the German Power and Gas Business will be centralized.

The location concept, the details of which are still being developed and will then be discussed with the responsible employee representatives, will also meet the requirements of the operating business and support necessary synergies. At the same time, the impact on employees should be kept to a minimum. E.ON expects this to have an impact on jobs in Essen and Dortmund in the short and medium term, but believes that both cities have a good foundation for a healthy long-term future development in line with the development of the new E.ON.
