Eni S p A : provides support to Kazakhstan in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic

Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan), 20 May 2021 - Eni, through its local subsidiaries, has donated medical equipment for intensive care to the Republic as a contribution to Kazakhstan's efforts to fight the spread of Coronavirus in the country.

Eni has donated 9 intensive care ventilators, Oxygen generator as well as sets of medical consumables for the Intensive Care Units in the Aktobe, Atyrau and West Kazakhstan Regions.

With this initiative, Eni adds to the efforts of the local health professionals to prevent the spread of COVID-19, thus reaffirming its strong commitment and support to the communities in which it operates.

Eni has provided critical health supplies throughout the pandemic, including 400,000 masks to the Aktobe Region and jointly with a group of subsidiaries of foreign investors working in Kazakhstan, the company has donated state-of-the art intensive care medical equipment and individual protective sets to the Multi-Disciplinary Medical Centre of Nur-Sultan, to help the treatment of COVID-19 patients.

Recently, Eni Kazakhstan branches have jointly contributed to the purchase of additional medical equipment that was distributed as follows:

• 2 intensive care ventilators VG70 to the Regional Phthisio-pulmonological Center and 1 intensive care ventilator VG70 to the Emergency Hospital in the Aktobe Region.
• 2 intensive care ventilators VG70 to the Atyrau Regional Children's Hospital, 2 intensive care ventilators VG70 for Atyrau city maternity hospital and 2 intensive care ventilators VG70 for Atyrau regional antituberculosis dispensary in Atyrau Region.
• 1 Oxygen generator to the Burlinskaya district hospital in Aksai and sets of medical consumables for the Intensive Care Units for the regional Multi-Disciplinary Hospital, Regional Infection Hospital and Uralsk Multi-Disciplinary Hospital in West Kazakhstan Region.

From the start of pandemic in 2020, overall, Eni has contributed to the Republic over 270 mln KZT (650,000 US dollars) to support the fight against Coronavirus spread in the country.

Eni is a global integrated energy company operating in more than 60 countries. The company has been present in Kazakhstan since 1992. Eni is a joint operator of the Karachaganak field and is an equity partner in various projects in the Northern Caspian Sea, including the Kashagan giant field. In 2018, Eni became a joint operator in the exploration block Isatay and Abay, with the state company KazMunayGas. Eni launched its first renewables project in Kazakhstan in March 2020 through the commercial operation of the 48 MW Badamsha Wind Farm located in the Aktobe Region, with an annual power generation of about 195 GWh and overall CO² saving of 172,000 tons per year. The company is now executing the second phase of the project, with 48 MW of additional capacity. In March 2021, Eni has also inaugurated the construction works of a 50 MW photovoltaic plant in the South of Kazakhstan (Shaulder village, Turkistan Region).
