Schroders and the Social Business Trust (SBT) today announce a new partnership to support high growth potential social enterprises. Schroders' Group Chief Executive, Peter Harrison will also join SBT's Investment Committee.

The Social Business Trust was launched in 2010 with the mission of helping outstanding social enterprises scale their impact, through support from leading corporate partners.

Currently, SBT works with social enterprises that address social problems, such as educational disadvantage, employability and social care. Since its inception, SBT has positively impacted the lives of 2.7 million people.

Schroders and SBT will work together to embed a skills-based volunteering programme that will be available to Schroders' UK employees. As a key business partner, Schroders will offer SBT practical support on projects and activities that will have a meaningful impact on social enterprises' sustainability and growth.

Louise Hosking, Chief of Staff, Schroders commented:

'We are proud to enter this new partnership with the Social Business Trust; an endeavour which we hope will have real and lasting impact for these social enterprises and subsequently, for the people they help.

'At Schroders we are committed to fostering a volunteering-culture, and recognise that volunteering is a fundamental development tool for personal and professional development. It is important to us that through our partnerships, we're able to provide our employees with meaningful volunteering opportunities.

'We are working with the Social Business Trust to build a volunteer programme in which the skills and expertise of our volunteers are carefully matched with the projects and social enterprises where they will be of most value. This is a fantastic opportunity to empower our people to use their skills towards making a lasting positive social impact.

'Our charity partnerships underpin our ambition of improving futures and through them we tackle the issues we feel strongly about, including improving social mobility, breaking down barriers to education and employment, and supporting mental health.'

Adele Blakebrough MBE, CEO, Social Business Trust commented:

'We are delighted to welcome Schroders as the latest corporate partner to join SBT. They are passionate about volunteering and making a difference. They are also keen to offer more opportunities for their people to engage with and support charities and social enterprises.

'In turn, SBT has increasing demands from our organisations for the professional skills of our corporate partners. Schroders will add to the fantastic pool of expertise available and enable our charities to face the enormous challenges confronting them as they emerge from the COVID pandemic. Schroders have an army of volunteers who are ready to get going and we can't wait for them to get started with our wonderful portfolio.'
