LANCASTER, Calif. (AP) _ Simulations Plus Inc. (SLP) on Monday reported fiscal fourth-quarter earnings of $2.2 million.

The Lancaster, California-based company said it had profit of 11 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 12 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 10 cents per share.

The maker of software used in pharmaceutical research posted revenue of $9.5 million in the period, meeting Street forecasts.

For the year, the company reported profit of $9.3 million, or 50 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $41.6 million.

Simulations Plus shares have more than doubled since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $67.97, a rise of 96% in the last 12 months.
