The Company celebrated the ecologists's professional holiday with a 'green' action - planting trees grown by students of city schools in the TATNEFT's biological classes.

The management and young employees of the Company, together with schoolchildren, planted the first seedlings of triploid aspen on the shore of a city lake in Almetyevsk.

By the Day of the Ecologist, the students have grown 500 seedlings. By the fall of this year, TATNEFT's bioclasses plan to grow 100,000 young trees. They will be planted in the Almetyevsky and Aznakaevsky districts of Tatarstan.

In the southeast of Tatarstan, the Company opened 6 biological classes in the Almetyevsky, Aznakaevsky and Yutazinsky districts. In the future, other cities and towns of the oil region will also be covered.

Triploid aspen has been chosen as the main planting material. This type of tree is the most resistant to the conditions of the southeast of Tatarstan, and also more actively absorbs pollutants in the air due to its accelerated growth. Secondary school students grow seedlings from seeds and prepare them for planting in greenhouses at biological laboratories.

Azat Khabibrakhmanov, Deputy General Director of PJSC TATNEFT for Industrial Safety, Labor Protection and Environment:

'The trees planted today are only a small part of the great environmental work that Company does. TATNEFT conducts a conscientious, environmentally responsible business. We are very glad that now the younger generation is also involved in this activity - it is very pleasant to see schoolchildren who take such a responsible attitude to nature and their work'.

ABOUT:

Environmental protection is one of the top priorities for TATNEFT. In its fifth Environmental Program, the Company integrated the Sustainable Development Goals aimed at preventing possible negative impact on the environment and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The environmental program of TATNEFT Group is designed until 2025 and includes 897 environmental protection measures of various types, corresponding to the European Classifier of Environmental Activities (CEPA, 2000). The total cost of their implementation is estimated at more than 79 billion rubles.

The triploid aspen seedlings grown in the bioclasses of TATNEFT are distinguished by their fast growth, white wood, and resistance to pests. The tree gives 2.5 meters of growth per year. For 25 years, triploid aspen grows into an adult tree capable of producing commercial timber. Moreover, its absorption of carbon dioxide is twice that of spruce or pine.

Seedlings are grown in special greenhouse conditions, where seedlings of future trees grow in a special nutrient medium before planting in their natural habitat.

The greenhouse constantly maintains a temperature of 20-24 degrees and a certain humidity, the sprouts are placed under special lamps, which contributes to their accelerated growth - by 5 cm every 10 days. Upon reaching a height of 1.5-2m, the tree will be planted on a plot in the forest.

In addition to triploid aspen, biological laboratories grow white birch, lilac, blackberry, indoor carnation, and white gentian.
