PARIS, Sept 28 (Reuters) - Should tensions ease between Europe and Russia and business ties strengthen again, the gas business will be a part of the process, TotalEnergies Chief Executive Patrick Pouyanne said on Wednesday, but import levels will be lower than in the past.

"If we exit this war and find peace on the continent again, the gas business will have to be part of the peace between Russia and Europe, but not at the same level as it was before", he said at an analyst presentation.

"I would not be surprised to see 50 bcm (billion cubic metres) continuing to flow (from Russia)" in some 5 years, he said. (Reporting by Tassilo Hummel, editing by Silvia Aloisi)
