The Canadian dollar weakened against the greenback on Monday, and the yield on benchmark government debt climbed.
The loonie was trading 0% lower at C$1.3841 to the greenback, or 72.25 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of 1.3835 to 1.3877.
Canadian government 10-year bond yields rose 2 basis points to 3.489%. The yield on similar U.S. government benchmark debt rose to 4.325%.
U.S. May crude futures rose $7.05 to $103.62 a barrel on Monday.
The value of building permits in Canada fell -8.4% in February, Statistics Canada said.
