Shares of energy companies rose as oil futures topped $112 a barrel in New York ahead of President Trump's deadline for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Tehran has rejected a U.S. plan to end the war, issuing its own 10-point response, according to Iran's state news agency.

In a fiery press conference, President Trump warned Iran it would be "taken out" if Tehran didn't meet the Tuesday deadline for reopening key Persian Gulf shipping lanes.
