According to a statement from the oil major, preliminary estimates indicate gas-in-place volumes of approximately 140 billion cubic meters (5 Tcf) and 300 million barrels of condensate within the encountered interval.
The new find is adjacent to the Gula gas discovery (estimated at 56 billion cubic meters of gas-in-place and 75 million barrels of condensate), which has yet to be developed. Initial assessments suggest that the combined resources of Geliga and Gula have the potential to produce an additional 28 million cubic meters of gas per day and 80,000 barrels of condensate per day.
In its press release, Eni emphasized that this discovery "makes significant new volumes available for both domestic and international markets."
