Shares of industrial and transportation companies fell after a disappointment for Boeing during President Trump's visit to China.
China has agreed to buy 200 Boeing jets, Trump said, which was short of the 500 some media outlets had estimated the goodwill purchase would entail.
Retailers' sales grew by 0.5% in April, versus the 1.6% growth recorded in March, the Commerce Department said.
