(Alliance News) - Edison Spa announced on Tuesday that it has received an update from QatarEnergy regarding the ongoing force majeure affecting LNG supplies destined for the Adriatic LNG terminal.

The notification concerns an additional two LNG cargoes scheduled for delivery to Italy by early July, adding to the 10 cargoes already covered by previous communications. Edison confirmed that it does not anticipate any impact on its end customers, thanks to mitigation measures and portfolio management activities already in place.

The company explained that, to date, eight LNG vessels have already been replaced, representing approximately 1 billion cubic meters of gas.

Edison holds a long-term contract with QatarEnergy for the supply of 6.4 billion cubic meters of gas per year to Italy. The contract, which came into effect in 2009, has a total duration of 25 years. The last supplies from Qatar were received at the end of March. In the first quarter of the year, Edison received a total of 1.6 billion cubic meters of liquefied natural gas from Qatar.

'Edison remains in constant contact with QatarEnergy, with whom it shares a solid and trusted partnership. The impact of the force majeure in terms of timing and volumes will depend on a series of factors, particularly the evolution of regional conflicts, operational and safety considerations, production capacity, and local shipping logistics. In this regard, based on information currently received from the seller, Edison anticipates a reduction in future supplies from QatarEnergy estimated at approximately one-third of the annual contractual volumes, subject to the effect of any mitigation measures,' the company stated.

Edison's savings shares were down 0.9% at EUR2.17.
