A number of employees have sought medical attention following excavation work at the new steel mill on SSAB's site in Luleå, according to TT. Work has been partially halted, as previously reported by P4 Norrbotten.

Those affected have experienced symptoms such as nausea and headaches, according to project spokesperson Martin Gidlund. The cause is currently under investigation and soil samples have been taken, though tests have so far shown no elevated levels of any substance. Production at the plant itself remains unaffected.

Work on the affected section of the construction site will not resume until the test results have been received.
