(Alliance News) - Giuseppina Di Foggia is prepared to waive her EUR7.3 million severance package from Terna to clear the way for her appointment as chair of Eni, following an ultimatum from the Giorgia Meloni-led government, La Repubblica reported on Wednesday.
The Prime Minister had made it clear that Di Foggia had to choose between the Eni chairmanship and the severance pay, as the two options were incompatible under current regulations and corporate bylaws.
According to the newspaper, a breakthrough occurred yesterday evening: Terna announced the outgoing CEO's willingness to renounce the severance package, although she is reportedly seeking to retain other indemnities.
The decision paves the way for her move to Eni after days of intense political and media pressure.
